Lead Artist position Overview: Torpex Games makes cutting edge, next-generation games in Bellevue, washington. This is a company founded by industry-acclaimed game development veterans Bill Dugan and Jamie Fristrom, currently working on an Xbox Live Arcade game with notable game designers Richard Garfield and Skaff Elias. We are an independent studio creating original titles, such as the highly anticipated “Schizoid” for the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade. Job Description: Lead Artist We are looking for a lead artist who can create good art and possesses exceptional technical skills. You should also have a passion for developing “the look” of next generation video games! Responsibilities: - Assist in all areas of game development and enjoy brainstorming content, conceptualizing projects and suggesting solutions for team members. - Specify art direction based on an excellent knowledge and understanding of artistic techniques and technical tools - Work with coders to define art pipelines and find solutions to game requirements. - Direct and provide art leadership and anticipate and resolve problems. - Work with internal and external artists and level designers in developing, modeling and texturing environments and their supporting objects. - Provide input on future hires and act as a mentor/advisor for the more junior members of the art team. Qualifications: - Passion for developing video games. - Art lead experience on a completed title or equivalent management experience. - Prefer a 2 year 2D/3D art degree with excellent fundamental art skills such as lighting, composition, scale and color, as well as critique skills. - Excellent communication and organizational skills. - Excellent 3DS Max or Maya experience. - Reliable scheduling and management ability. - Ability to communicate and work effectively with all team members including programmers, game designers and producers. Submission Requirements: - Submissions must include a resume and portfolio. - All samples should include a description of what you were responsible for and the tools used. - Submissions may be made by sending your resume and website link via e-mail. - Email attachments of work samples are acceptable, but must be zipped and less than 5mb. - We will accept VHS tape, CD-ROM and traditional materials by standard mail.
