Senior Programmer position Overview: Torpex Games makes cutting edge, next-generation games in Bellevue, WA. This is a company founded by industry-acclaimed game development veterans Bill Dugan and Jamie Fristrom, currently working on an Xbox Live Arcade game with notable game designers Richard Garfield and Skaff Elias. We are an independent studio creating original titles, such as the highly anticipated “Schizoid” for the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade. Job Description: Senior Programmer We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking programmer to make great games! While we have some experience preferences, we are more interested in finding someone great with a passion for developing and playing video games!! Responsibilities: - Assist in all areas of game development and enjoy brainstorming content, conceptualizing projects and suggesting solutions for team members. - Evaluate technologies, specify the design code structure, and write application code to develop the core elements for a project. - Program new features and improve existing core features. - Direct and provide technical leadership and anticipate and resolve problems. - Provide input on future hires and act as a mentor/advisor for the more junior members of the programming team. - Effectively create development schedules and milestones. Qualifications: - Passion for developing and playing video games. - Broad programming experience and a demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices - Excellent communication and organizational skills with a familiarity of team based work practices - 3+ years game industry experience with at least 1 shipped title. - 1+ years managing a programming team of at least 3 people. - Reliable scheduling and management ability. - Excellent C/C++ proficiency, design, and debugging skills. - Ability to communicate and work effectively with all team members including artists, game designers and producers. - Ability to lead junior programmers and scripters. - Good math skills (linear algebra)
